Meditation Beyond the Cushion: Bringing Awareness Into Everyday Life

What if meditation isn’t something you switch on for a few minutes and then leave behind when you get up?

In this episode of *Skeletal Leap*, I question the familiar image of meditation as a seated practice and propose a more expansive idea: meditation is a way to grow awareness—and awareness can accompany us throughout the day.

Many people associate meditation with sitting cross-legged, concentrating on a thought or mantra, or watching the mind wander.

Those practices may be familiar, but I argue that the posture itself can distract us from a more important question: how do we become more aware of what is happening right now?

The episode’s central idea is that awareness should be dynamic, not confined to a quiet, isolated session.

Life’s ordinary activities—walking, working, listening, and interacting—offer opportunities to notice the world as it unfolds.

Rather than treating meditation as a temporary break from daily life, I invite you to bring mindful attention into daily life itself.

From Autopilot to Fresh Perception

I describe how easily we rely on memory when facing familiar situations. We catch an initial glimpse of what is happening, then allow past experiences and reactions to fill in the rest.

The mind, in effect, starts “computing” the present before we have fully perceived it.

That shortcut can turn a response into a reaction. Instead of engaging with what is actually happening, we respond according to what we expect based on an earlier experience.

The episode encourages us to notice this habit and use our senses more fully—to see, hear, and experience each moment anew, even when it resembles something we have encountered before.

As I put it, “We are not computers, we are basically perceivers.” The distinction is an invitation to slow down internally, not necessarily to stop moving.

Rather than quickly deciding whether an experience is useful, familiar, or worth our attention, we can allow ourselves to encounter it more completely.

A Practice Woven into Life

This approach challenges the idea that meditation must be a separate task, performed in a specific posture and for a set amount of time.

I suggest that such a session can become a box to tick—something that makes us feel we have completed our practice, even as we return to habitual ways of living.

Instead, I ask you to consider awareness as an ongoing practice: notice perceptions, become conscious of the mind’s responses, and meet daily events with attention.

The aim is not to withdraw from ordinary life, but to experience it with greater presence.

The episode makes a compelling case for taking mindfulness beyond the cushion.

My name is Laadi Ojas. Welcome to “Skeletal Leap: A Living Adventure”.

Skeletal Leap transforms one’s life into a personal heaven.

Today’s episode will tell you about meditation as a way of living life 24 by 7, though very few people really know that meditation is simply a process to increase the awareness to realize our optimum brain potential.

Meditation is one of the most misinformed activities throughout the world. As an exclusive human potential, it has already assumed the status of being the only way to bring peace to the mind.

The general perception of the masses about meditation is quite flawed up. Ask anyone on road what they think meditation is and more than often they will tell you it means sitting and concentrating on one single thought, mantra, image, sound or symbol.

The ones who think they know a little bit more would tell you to sit down but not to concentrate on one single element and rather let the mind roam around wherever it does along with keeping witnessing the same with as much awareness as you can.

But everyone has a picture of meditation in mind of something that is done while sitting in a specific cross-legged posture. So much so that these cross-legged postures have become synonymous with meditation and represent meditation as an icon.

Meditation is a process of increasing one’s awareness but hardly do people really know for sure how to actually start doing that once you have sat down in a cross-legged posture. So, different people keep doing different kinds of mental activities while getting initiated in the discipline named meditation.

How does one increase one’s awareness?

It’s not at all a spiritual question to answer that meditation is traditionally linked with. It is considered to take you to the spiritual realm away from the mundane activities of daily life.

Nothing can be farther from being true!

The word spirit from which the notion of the spiritual realm has taken shape is very much a part of all the mundane activities of daily life.

That’s why when an emphasis is put on sitting in the cross-legged or any other formal posture in order to do meditation, it kills the very basic insight into what meditation should be done like.

The idea of sitting for meditation makes people take it as a mental exercise to do for a limited duration of time, get relieved from stress, accumulate some mental peace that they are otherwise lacking and then jump back into their habitual, unhealthy and unaware ways of living life like they always have been doing.

Doing meditation like this rather harms than do any good simply because it inculcates a new ego in their minds that they have accumulated a lot of good karma and they are a better human being than those who don’t sit to do meditation and hence are wasting their lives.

How is accumulating good karma any different from accumulating money in their bank accounts?

So in my opinion the sitting posture should be discontinued as far as doing meditation is concerned.

Then which one to adopt if not the sitting posture? That’s what people will ask!

No posture, I say.

Postures are only there for a limited duration of time to build an ego of having done your meditation for the day!

It’s funny.

Awareness, and not meditation, is the exclusive human potential. Meditation is simply a process to increase this awareness to realize our optimum human potential.

We need to stop fancying and glamorizing meditation as a pious activity in itself. If it doesn’t help increase the canvas of our awareness, it’s not of any use to us.

How does one increase one’s awareness then?

Not by sitting cross-legged in a meditation posture at least!

Increasing awareness has to be a dynamic process rather than a static one. We don’t need to sit in isolation away from all the action of life and make mind static.

We need to be aware of our mind’s dynamic process in the very midst of all the mundane activities of our daily life 24 by 7.

Awareness comes from perceiving the world around.

We perceive the world around us through our five senses as well as through our responses to those perceptions.

We don’t use all our senses to their optimum and hence do not respond to the said perceptions in our totality.

In the absence of the optimum awareness, we become habituated to get an initial glimpse of an event and then just stop using our senses further to perceive the same in its totality anew. Rather we fabricate the rest of our so-called reception of our perception of the initial glimpse from the past memory of a similar glimpse along with our past response to that past memory.

What an effective computer system have our minds become!

Human mind is not a computer alone. If it does things the way a computer does, it gets limited to be a bad computer since machines can perform much better in that realm than we can.

We are not computers, we are basically perceivers. We need to perceive every time anew, even if it resembles something of the very similar nature along with our past response to it stored in our memory of the past!

Responding to a new event from the response stored in our memory amounts to reacting and not really responding to it.

And why do we try to act like a computer at all even at the cost of limiting our perceptive awareness of the present?

It’s because like a computer, we are in a hurry to compute what the present event is about.

This is a tendency that springs from the attitude of living life with a utilitarian point of view. It always is in a hurry to estimate if a new perception of a new event has any utilitarian value in it or not.

A non-meditative mind is always in a hurry to make an opinion about an event without even perceiving it to its fullest anew.

It’s a difference between living life as an experiencing soul and an accumulator.

It’s also a difference between living life as a customer and as a trader. To a customer, every piece one buys is unique; to a trader it’s just another piece out of stock!

And it’s also a difference between the attitudes of being and having. I am versus I have!

The moment we start using all our five senses while perceiving the mundane events and activities of our daily life, our mind comes out of the vicious circle of reacting to them from the memories of our past reactions to the similar events and activities in the present.

Once our mind is able to train itself to act anew every single time it perceives a new event, it develops a new insight into what all amazing stuff these new events and activities have in store for us as far as interacting with them in the absolute present is concerned.

And the best thing is no one will ever come to know that you are meditating as you go on living your life unassumingly every single moment of it!

Sitting in meditation will never take you there. So get up and get into the mundane action of daily life with a meditative set of mind 24 by 7!

You will be rewarded with the insight that only the optimum awareness can equip you with, it being an exclusive human potential to be achieved in order to live life to its fullest!

Today’s episode will tell you about thinking as an exclusive human privilege, though humanity has not yet been able to think sustainably in the most ethical way.

Humans are endowed with a privilege to think clear and it is this privilege of clear thinking alone that has brought us from being a caveman to being a skyscraper-dweller today.

It was a long journey we traversed through thousands of years. What we lost along the way and what we gained is yet to calculate.

The major question right now at this juncture of time is what we are going to do further ahead from here with our thinking.

Whatever we do, it must take care of all the problems humanity is facing today. I am not thinking negative, but I don’t want to live in a fool’s paradise. The picture that the facts are painting is not a rosy one at all!

Human induced climate change is threatening us with extinction, and there are influential people steering the political bandwagon who are in a state of denial regarding it. Their thinking may prove to be very costly to us!

A great percentage of people especially in the third world is not getting enough nutritious food to eat and clean water to drink. Is anyone still thinking of a solution to that?

We have multiplied ourselves a bit too fast and a bit too much. We have become too many of us on a small, little planet of which we can use only a third part to live.

Our resources have started depleting especially the fossil fuels that run all automobiles on earth. We need clear thinking about it at the level of an impending emergency!

There is an ugly disparity between the statuses of humans that our society has allowed to be created. I fail to understand what a weird kind of thinking must have gone into designing such an unjust society.

1% of population controls half the wealth of the earth, top 10% control 90% of the entire wealth of the world. Only 1% of it goes to serve the bottom 65% of population. What an unjust socio-economic system have we created for our fellow humans!

Countries are going on building and accumulating weapons of destruction calling it their defense strategy. If every country is busy building its defense who is it that is threatening offense? It clearly indicates the destructive thinking that we have fallen prey to.

Human health is in a pathetic condition. More than one third of the world’s population has gone overweight, inviting all kinds of lifestyle diseases.

A considerable percentage of population has fallen prey to diabetes.

A similar percentage has contracted asthma for life.

Around half of humanity is living with heart conditions all through their lives.

Digestive diseases have become the rule of living.

One in every seven people is a victim to migraine.

Arthritis has debilitated 10 to 15 percent of human population.

And One fourth of the population is suffering from depression and other neurological diseases!

We do seem to have gone wrong somewhere in our thinking patterns!

Our education system is going on churning out an army of robotic experts who know everything but for aesthetics in life and creativity in clear thinking. Critical thinking has become the way of the world.

Nailed down by their own negative thinking patterns, the schools, the colleges and the corporate world are going on mongering slogans of positive thinking in a futile attempt to undo what they already have done wrong.

Relationships are disintegrating, turning into self-serving contracts with one another. Maybe they were always like that! Only that their real face has come out of their mask in the open now. That’s why relationship problems are tending to go beyond repair. Marriages are disintegrating. Divorces are at an all-time high!

Corrupt politics is ruling the innocent and ignorant masses, grinding its own axe, wherever it can. Human rights have been kept at bay. The entire world seems to have gone the right wing way keeping the interests of their own nations up and above any global consideration of sharing and freedom.

As a reaction to all this, crime has organized itself too by putting on a modern political garb on its face in the name of terrorism. Freedom was already gone. Now safety and security is also at peril. Human thinking is turning self-detrimental! The best privilege that our species was endowed with is fast turning into its own handicap.

What are we going to do with our clear thinking potential?

We need to give an emergency call to our incredible human potential to take note of it all and device a paradigm shift in human thinking pattern, to create a new structure that supports itself entirely on new pillars of thought as the old ones have already started falling apart!

These are going to be the best minds on earth who will take the onus of this extremely urgent responsibility of clear thinking on their shoulders!

Today’s episode will tell you about learning from mistakes as an exclusive human prerogative, though humanity has not yet been able to do so in its totality.

Learning from mistakes is what stops history from repeating itself. But as we still use the adage ‘history repeats itself’ clearly indicates that we as humans haven’t yet started using our great human potential of learning from mistakes so that the unwanted history doesn’t repeat itself anymore.

Human history though being a proud document of its scientific and technological development has also been a shameful document of its inhuman sociocultural misdeeds resulting in numerous episodes of massacre, genocide, ethnic cleansing and holocaust throughout the world in its different parts at different times.

All these differently named episodes have one thing in common in that they all have been the shameless mass killings in the names of religion, politics, race, lifestyles and, nationalities.

Since very ancient times the human history of religious, political, racial and national expansion has been a history of ruthless violence done on the masses in the name of various fads that the rulers of the specific times and areas had in their minds.

There were no attempts at learning from mistakes as these atrocities kept getting repeated throughout the centuries we have been living a so-called civilized life on the planet.

Here is a sample list of the major and the cruelest ones of these!

• 350 AD: Ancient Chinese texts record that General Ran Min ordered the extermination of the Wu Hu, especially the Jie people, during the Wei-Jie war in the fourth century AD. People with racial characteristics such as high-bridged noses and bushy beards were killed; in total, 200,000 were reportedly massacred.

• 1250-1500 AD: From the 13th to the 16th centuries many European countries expelled the Jews from their territory on at least 15 occasions. Spain was preceded by England, France and some German states, among many others, succeeded by at least five more expulsions.

• From 1894-1896, in an effort to islamize the Ottoman Empire, Sultan Abdul Hamid II ordered the killing of ethnic Armenians (along with other Christian minorities) living in the Ottoman Empire, based on their religion. These killings later became known as the Hamidian massacres, named after Sultan Abdul Hamid II. It has been estimated that the total number of people killed ranges from 80,000 to 300,000.

• German Empire during First World War planned to annex about 35 thousand square kilometers of pre-war Poland and ethnically cleansed between 2 and 3 million Poles and Jews out of all these territories to make room for German settlers.

• The Bolshevik regime killed or deported an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 Don Cossacks during the Russian Civil War, in 1919-1920. Geoffrey Hosking stated “It could be argued that the Red policy towards the Don Cossacks amounted to ethnic cleansing. It was short-lived, however, and soon abandoned because it did not fit with normal Leninist theory and practice”.

• The Armenian Genocide took place during and after World War I and was implemented in two phases: the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and forced labor, and the deportation of women, children, the elderly and infirm on death marches to the Syrian Desert. The total number of people killed as a result is most commonly reported to be 1.5 million.Armenian Genocide

  

• Second Sino-Japanese War, in which the Imperial Japanese Army invaded China in the 1930s. Millions of Chinese were killed, civilians and military personnel alike. The Three Alls Policy that was used by the Imperial Japanese Army resulted in the deaths of many of these Chinese. The Three Alls Policy was Kill all, Burn all, and Seize all.

• The Holodomor (1932-1933) is considered by many historians as a genocidal famine perpetrated on the orders of Josef Stalin involving widespread ethnic cleansing of ethnic Ukrainians in Soviet Ukraine. An estimated 2.5 to 8 million Ukrainians were exterminated in the famine.

• Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, The United States government forced the Japanese residing in the United States, including American Citizens, to be brought to an Internment Camp. Approximately 110,000 to 120,000 Japanese were relocated and incarcerated during World War II.

  

• The expulsion of 14 million ethnic Germans from the Former eastern territories of Germany after World War II. This policy was decided at the Potsdam Conference by the victorious powers.

• During the Partition of India 6 million Muslims fled ethnic violence taking place in India to settle in what became Pakistan and 5 million Hindus and Sikhs fled from what became Pakistan to settle in India.

• In 1948, approximately 700,000 Palestinian refugees fled or were expelled during the Arab-Israeli war and were prevented from returning to their homes in present-day Israel.Palestinian refugees

• Shortly after Muammar Gaddafi gained power in Libya, the Libyan government forcibly expelled some 150,000 Italians living in the country on October 7, 1970, in retaliation for Italy’s 1911 colonization of the country. The expulsion is known in Libya as the “Day of Vengeance”.

• Idi Amin’s regime forced the expulsion in 1972 of Uganda’s entire ethnic Asian population, mostly of Indian descent.

• The Sino-Vietnamese War resulted in the discrimination and consequent migration of Vietnam’s ethnic Chinese. Many of these people fled as “boat people”. In 1978-79, some 250,000 ethnic Chinese left Vietnam by boat as refugees or were expelled across the land border with China.

• In the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984, the ruling party Indian National Congress supporters formed large mobs and killed about 3000 Sikhs around Delhi in what is known as the 1984 anti-Sikh riots during the next four days. The mobs acting with the support of ruling party leaders used the Election voting list to identify Sikhs and kill them.

• In Jammu and Kashmir, a separatist insurgency has targeted the Hindu Kashmiri Pandit minority, 400,000 have been displaced, and 1,200 have been killed since 1991. Islamic terrorists infiltrated the region in 1989 and began an ethnic cleansing campaign to convert Kashmir to a total Muslim state. Since that time, over 400,000 Kashmiri Hindus have either been murdered or forced from their homes.

Going through such horrendous lists at times creates a doubt if learning from mistakes is really a human privilege or our species is as barbarian as any other beast can be.

We still maintain armies, we are still war-ready, and we still have narrow national interests over and above a liberal all-encompassing worldview!

Who will be the pioneers of learning our lessons from our blunders we committed to write a new era of understanding on our planet???

They are certainly going to be the pioneers who have already healed themselves creating their personal heaven in life via Skeletal Leap in their body, mind and spirit. Learning from mistakes is going to be another step to create a collective heaven on earth for all Homo sapiens that we ARE.

My name is Laadi Ojas. Welcome to “Skeletal Leap: A Living Adventure”. Skeletal Leap transforms one’s life into a personal heaven.

Today’s episode will tell you about the human potential to attain freedom for itself which it has not yet been able to do in its totality.

Human Evolution

The entire history of human evolution speaks of its constant hunt to attain more and more safety, comfort and the most importantly freedom for itself.

As this ape that we once were, underwent a series of mutations and finally stood on its two feet without a tail at its back, severing its last connection with its predecessor; it kept looking for newer and newer ways to harness the forces of nature for its benefit.

It attained its first major freedom from the compulsion of consuming raw food when it invented fire and turned its food much more edible as well as tastier than ever before.

As it evolved from being a hunter-gatherer to being a farmer, it earned its next major freedom from the compulsion of always being on its toes to go out in search of food every single day.

Then it became free from carrying its agricultural produce on its back from one place to another when it invented wheel and built ox-driven and horse-driven carts on wheels to easily carry heavy loads as far as it liked without doing any strenuous labor itself.

Sociocultural Evolution

But it took a complete U-turn holding its freedom at ransom when it started weaving the fabric of society in order to live a settled life in villages along with its fellow humans.

These evolved humans were intelligent enough to invent technological advances to achieve freedom from their cumbersome ways of life, but they were not wise enough to understand the far-reaching implications of what they were going to design their society like.

The institution Of Private Property

The institution of private property had already started establishing itself with the advent of agriculture as the main occupation of these evolved humans.

First of all they curbed their members’ freedom to follow instinctual drives of interacting freely between the two genders by subjugating their females to males’ whims and desires.

They didn’t want females to freely have sex with the males they spontaneously felt like having it with. If they did, they wouldn’t be able to know who their offshoots were whereas females would easily know who their sons and daughters were.

Institution Of Marriage

It was jealousy working in the male mind that got the institution of marriage established commanding men and women to have sex with and procreate from one single partner all through their life so that men would be able to know who their sons and daughters were.

It was another thing that these commandments had been scripted much more strictly for women in the names of morals than they had been for men. As a result although it distorted men’s outlook toward sex making it more insensitive and violent against women, it very inhumanly suppressed women’s drive and freedom to move around and interact freely with the men of their choice.

Half of the human population was robbed of its right to freedom by this one single act alone!

Patriarchy

Women were forced to turn submissive losing all their instinctual passion whereas forcing them into submission turned men insensitive and violent thus losing all their instinctual passion as well.

We have been paying a huge price for this unnatural regimentation through ages of gender discrimination and exploitation extending to eve teasing, rapes, wife-beating and killing female embryos during pregnancy to this date in our society.

The institution of marriage also gave birth to the institution of family reinforcing the institution of private property to be inherited turning into the most coveted institution of money later.

Once the institution of marriage got firmly rooted in the pattern of society, men who by now had been severely distorted with suspicion, ego and violence felt a need to take it out on those they thought could prove to be a challenge to them. The strongest and the cleverest among them took the leadership in their hands.

Politics-Business Nexus

They needed to assemble fighters to do so by paying them with favors to fight for them.

Money had already come into existence to facilitate trading by now and it proved to be the best favor that anyone could be paid with.

Thus came into existence the nexus between politics and business.

Men fought wars enslaving those who they defeated. They robbed the losers of their money and forced these slaves to work for them.

Freedom of men got robbed in the hands of other men!

Warfare

Humanity witnessed the worst genocides and the fiercest wars in the hands of the most violent men on the face of earth.

The world got demarcated into various different countries with barbed wires on their borders in between them!

Ages passed by, empires turned to democracies, businesses turned to large corporate houses, armies adopted the most lethal weapons by testing them in Hiroshima and Nagasaki for once; but the freedom of man is still a distant dream on the planet.

The modern culture has subjugated man’s freedom to its most lethal weapon ever created in the name of money. Whatever we do in life on earth today is directed to earning and hoarding as much of money as we can. Not a single action of ours has remained free of this unfortunate motive to earn money out of it.

We as humans need to regain our freedom to walk on our planet without being obstructed by the barbed wires on the national borders being protected by the armies on both sides of them.

We have our human potential on our side to attain our freedom from the clutches of money power and political power to write a new era of freedom on our planet.

Skeletal Leap

Who will be the pioneers of attaining our freedom from the clutches of money power and political power to write a new era of freedom on our planet?

They are certainly going to be the pioneers who have already healed themselves creating their personal heaven in life via Skeletal Leap in their body, mind and spirit. Attaining freedom is going to be their next step to create a collective heaven on earth for all Homo sapiens that we are.

Energy Healing

Energy healing is a practice based on the assertion that a healer can channelize healing energy into a patient through touch, without touch or even in absentia.

Which energy is this and where does it come from? What is the source of this energy?

Unfortunately none of the energy healing therapies including Therapeutic touch, Healing Touch, Esoteric healing, Qigong healing, Reiki, Pranic healing, Crystal healing, distant healing, intercessory prayer, and similar other disciplines clearly explain the form and the source of this healing energy. Qi (Chi), Prana, Innate Intelligence, Mana, Pneuma, Vital fluid, Odic force, and Orgone are among the many terms that have been used to describe these putative energy fields.

Life Energy

In fact we should look at it from a rather unassuming angle. We should talk of energy as the simple life energy that instills life in an individual.

Presumably, life is instilled with a non-physical energy; and that’s why and how it can move itself as well as move other things it applies force on.

How does this life energy work in keeping a person alive?

As far as we know about energy, it cannot stay still at one single place. It does need to keep moving like all other physical forms of energy including light, heat, sound, electricity and other forms of electromagnetic energy.

How can life energy keep moving in a living creature?

It simply does so by flowing through the body entering it at the location of the root chakra and then flowing through the spine up to the head to exit out of it at the location of the crown chakra, only to enter it at the location of the root chakra again.

Thus it forms a complete cycle like any other physical energy does.

Kundalini Energy

In the chakra discipline, this non-physical energy has been named as Kundalini, which in its major essence keeps lying dormant at the base of the root chakra.

Now, lying majorly dormant doesn’t mean it has completely stopped its flow through the body. It’s simply that the amount of energy flowing through the body has been majorly blocked owing to the resistance offered by the closed chakras along its length up to the head.

Still a partial amount of it does keep trickling through its scheduled path and a weak energy cycle keeps rotating in order to keep the person alive.

That’s how and why different people appear to be having different amounts of life-energy in their personalities. We often come across more energetic as well as less energetic people for no obvious reason to explain the amount of energy they express in their personalities.

Chakras

It all depends on the state of their chakras as to how much or how little they are open or else closed, a closed chakra simply representing a rigidified muscle-group in the area around the location of a specific chakra in the body.

If the body is ever able to relax its muscle-groups in various different chakra locations to any extent, it certainly results in increased life energy in the organism; and as it happens so, a certain amount of healing to a certain extent automatically takes place in the said organism.

That’s what energy healing does. It simply manipulates the said muscle-groups in a way that they loosen up their rigidities to allow a more voluminous flow of Kundalini energy through the spine up to the head to exit in order to enter the root chakra again.

Energy healing can do so via manipulation through touch or else via suggestion without touch or even in absentia.

Healing Touch

Healing touch is an energy healing therapy but there is a lot of misconception prevailing about the source of energy that this therapy works with.

People think that the touching hands emanate some kind of energy which gets absorbed by the person under treatment and heals him or her. This misconception imparts a bigger than life image to the therapist under the belief that she/he has special energetic powers in the touch of her/his hands that heal.

Nothing can be farther than truth than this. Hands never emanate energy to heal. They can only know the way how to touch a person at various locational points and functional areas on one’s body so that those locational points and functional areas intuitively readjust their anatomical positioning and physiological functioning under the effect of induction through the healing touch.

How does this induction through the healing touch work and how does the readjustment of locational points and functional areas benefit the person under treatment?

Stress

A healing touch therapist has an insight into the science and the art of how a human body tends to posture itself naturally in case it is absolutely relaxed with its mind free from all kinds of stress.

Unluckily in the majority of cases, people posture their bodies in unhealthily faulty ways which play a detrimental role in the flow of kundalini energy through the spinal cord entering the body at the location of the root chakra and exiting it at the location of the crown chakra only to re-enter at the root chakra again.

A wrongly postured body is a cause as well as an effect of 7 chakras lying closed in it. It’s a dialectical relationship between the two.

Muscular Armor

It speaks of the various different muscle groups through the entire length of the body gone rigidified to this extent or that. They go rigidified when they are habitually kept contracted (in case of some muscles) or elongated (in case of their conjugate muscles) for an extended period of time in order to keep the body’s defense system ready to face an imaginary threat posed under the effect of stress in their minds.

And we all know how common stress in almost the entire population in our society is. It turns people’s postures bad which obstruct the flow of cosmic life energy of kundalini flowing through their bodies.

The posture from a natural pulled-up and opened-out stance turns to an unhealthily dropped-down and tucked-in one, affecting the anatomical positioning and physiological functioning of various locational points and functional areas on one’s body.

A healing touch therapist has this insight into which muscle group has deformed in which specific way and based on this insight renders the healing touch in such a way and in such directions as suggest those muscle groups to readjust themselves tending to go relaxed on their own.

Healing Touch Works As A Catalyst For Chakra Healing

The healing touch simply works as a catalyst accelerating the process of opening chakras and thus allowing a smooth flow of kundalini energy through the entire length of the spinal cord to the top of the head at the location of the crown chakra from where it exits to body to enter it again at the location of the root chakra back.

Mind Body Connection

Mind body connection gets established when mind is able to listen to what body requires or demands and when body is able to listen to what mind requires or demands.

Why does the mind body connection get severed resulting in mind body disconnect, which is responsible to have harmed human health more than any bacteria or viruses all over the world.

It all starts with mind getting fragmented in more parts than one, all of them in dis-accord with one another. The brain starts sending conflicting signals to the body muscles through nerves.

As a result, these muscles lose their resilience and turn stiffer, further losing the flexibility and agility in the joints. It seriously affects the body posture in a way that tends to drop all the joints down and tuck them in.

Body Posture

This dropped-down and tucked-in posture makes body fall prone to all kinds of lifestyle diseases. Dropped-down shoulders keep pulling the neck down which in turn exerts a continuous pull on the skull muscles downward. As it reaches near a certain threshold, it tends to start paining at the slightest provocation by instantaneously initiating a tension headache.

It also keeps the thoracic muscle permanently contracted which affects not only breathing negatively but also the blood purification process responsible for all kinds of heart conditions.

The same happens to the digestive and the urinary processes giving rise to all kinds of excretory and kidney diseases.

Its next effect is very much visible in the body contracting all kinds of hormonal diseases including diabetes and thyroid problems.

It not only affects the lifestyle diseases but also reduces immunity resulting in body falling prey to bacterial and viral attacks more often.

The Fragmented Mind

The most important question that arises here is why after all we severe our mind body connection and how we do it!

As we saw before it gets done through fragmenting mind in more than one conflicting parts which make the brain start sending conflicting signals to the muscles through nerves.

Body starts losing its sensitivity to the instantaneous effects of the external stimuli attacking it.

I never had a headache all through my life. In fact I don’t even know how a headache feels like.

And its entire credit goes to my body sensitivity which always senses something tending to go stiff somewhere in the muscles around the skull or the neck. As it senses it tending to happen, it automatically sends a signal to mind which in turn immediately sends the relaxing signal back to the concerned part wherever it lies.

Headache never afflicts my body.

I ‘SEE’ all this happening very clearly in my body and in my mind taking place quite often and I give its entire credit to my mind body connection working efficiently in my mind body system.

My mind body connection also keeps all kinds of other lifestyle diseases away at my age of 75 at present.

Not only this, my mind body connection also keeps my immunity updated so that I don’t generally fall prey to any bacterial or viral attacks in my body.

It’s no bragging, it’s simply to tell you that I have a firsthand experience of what I am explaining to you here.

So, the most basic question that arises here is why we allow our mind to get fragmented in the very first place.

Psychology of Mind

It simply happens when we allow the moral faculty to take control of our mind from the hands of instinctive drives aided by the reasoning of objective knowledge.

Human minds are designed to work in their wholeness only when run by instinctive drives aided by the reasoning of objective knowledge.

Morals fragment them simply by trying to suppress instinctive drives and objective reasoning.

Our minds lose their sanity and our greatest savior mind body connection gets severed resulting in a serious mind body disconnect.

The only way out is to question each and every moral value and belief in depth and in detail and develop an insight into their futility.

Once it happens, they simply get dropped by our mind body system one by one by one establishing mind body connection back in its place.

Dishonesty Is Always The Best Way To Spoil Good Health!

Consider yourself lucky if you are possessing good health right now. But you are in all the chances of spoiling it if you have opted for following the dishonest ways to get any other kinds of benefits in your life.

I am not a doomsayer, nor am I a moralist who wants to tell you that honesty is the best policy. Heck, honesty is not even a policy what to say of it being the best!

Honesty is not even an independently basic concept at all. If our mind had not been corrupted by nailing morals into it since our early childhood, we wouldn’t even have an inkling of it. It would have been as foreign a language to us as gibberish. The same would have been true of dishonesty as well.

Honesty Vs Dishonesty

But if either of the two ever enters the ways of our actions in life, it is dishonesty. It is so because honesty does not have any conceptual existence in our mind until and unless dishonesty does. In the absence of dishonesty, the mind fails to understand the very concept of honesty at all.

An uncorrupted mind simply follows its instinctive drives and these drives are way beyond being honest or dishonest. They are neither honest nor dishonest. They just are!

It’s only if and when any of these instinctive drives gets suppressed or is left unsatiated that the mind decides to get it through unnatural means like violence, stealth or cheating.

Some of these unnatural means were categorized as dishonest as the formation of society started suppressing these drives. Stealth and cheating fell under this category although violence didn’t. Violence was rather upheld as bravery, boldness or chivalries as an antithesis of fear.

Once dishonesty got categorized, the society needed an opposite of it in order to present as a desirable moral to be nailed into the minds of the suppressed masses. Although honesty was a derivative of dishonesty, the two were named in a way that the derivative seemed to be the original and the original seemed to be a derivative.

Honesty Is Not A Policy

And then the society had a cheek to call it a policy!

You can corrupt understanding, you can corrupt intentions, you can corrupt minds, you can corrupt almost everything on earth; but you cannot corrupt the laws that health follows.

Corrupting health is beyond the scope of corruption.

At least we are left with one incorruptible entity in life that otherwise seems to be infected by the virus of corruption all over!

And the best thing is that this entity is the most important entity in life.

If we turn dishonest for whatever reason, it immediately reflects on the state of our health right then and there.

Dr. William H. Bates

If you don’t believe it, here is what Dr. William H. Bates, an ophthalmologist, discovered through his research:

His research work showed that the refractive error was greatly influenced by emotions. For instance, it was much larger when the subject was lying. Basically any emotional state greatly affected the eyesight. Even when looking at a foreign object such as printed material in a foreign language his subjects always showed a refractive error. In layman terms, this means that there was a temporary blur even when people had perfect eyesight.

Dr. Bates concluded what is now confirmed by neuroscientific research: Emotions and mental strain translate into body tension. And for a lot of people this body tension manifest as eye strain which in turn creates vision problems. Relaxation of the mind on the other hand, improves the eyesight. Traditional medicine is still not accepting this fact, and treats eyesight challenges as if the eyes were a separate entity from our brains and bodies.

Eyes are not the only organ that immediately get affected by dishonesty of lying or any such action or else even intention; the heart, the lungs and the digestive system are equally immediately affected by any such dishonest maneuver. The more the maneuvers, the more the effect and the more its permanence that takes it to a point of almost no return.

Following honesty as a policy is not going to undo these negative effects on health, it’s rather going to aggravate them further since doing a right action with a moral objective in mind, i.e., doing it because it is good and it is moral is a sign of a more corrupted mind than a mind that just does something bad or immoral.

A Corrupted Mind

A morally corrupted mind is more dangerous than an immorally corrupted mind!

It’s simply so because you cannot be moral unless you have already been immoral before.

Honesty as a moral concept to be followed is a bigger stress on mind than immorality is.

Health simply requires your mind to be beyond both, honesty as well as dishonesty.

Let’s be happy that we discovered at least one thing that we can always have at our behest without its ever getting corrupted in the hands of our unjust society that has already corrupted everything it could.

And let’s be happier that this one incorruptible thing called human health is the most important thing in our life!

Holistic Healing

Holistic healing is a philosophical approach to healing which stands 180 degree opposite to the approach of modern pharmaceutical medicine.

Pharmaceutical medicine is a big business with its size being over one trillion U.S. dollars per year. It’s very natural that this business will not let its hold go loose in case an alternative approach starts holding roots in the mindset of the masses.

It does so by challenging the scientific validity of any such holistic healing approach. Its main assertion is that any such holistic healing procedures haven’t undergone strict laboratory testing methods to come up with convincing statistical data establishing their efficacy.

But in doing so, it ignores the most basic philosophy of healing which asserts that holistic healing is supposed to do away with the basic root cause of a health problem rather than doing away with the symptoms of the problem alone.

If only the symptoms are done away with, the problem tends to relapse which almost everyone is quite familiar with at one’s experiential level. That’s why the modern medicinal approach calls their procedures as treatment and not cure.

Holistic Healing Concept

Holistic healing as a concept addresses curing an illness permanently as opposed to treating it temporarily for the time being.

Treating symptoms temporarily can be a much swifter process than curing the root cause permanently. This is the reason why the modern pharmaceutical medicine has established its acceptance among the masses. In the age of fast food, people look for fast medicine as well, no matter if it spoils the health further in the long run.

How Health Deteriorates with Pharmaceutical Medicine

How does treating symptoms alone spoil health further in the long run?

There are two reasons for it.

First, as the symptoms temporarily disappear the patients psychologically feel that the problem has fully and finally been taken care of and revert to their old lifestyles that had caused the problem in the very first place. As a result the problem relapses after sometime turning them weaker and weaker every time it does.

Second, since the symptoms cannot be naturally removed without removing the causative factors, what actually the pharmaceutical medicine does is that it suppresses the symptoms artificially by sending an army of antibodies from outside rather than strengthening the antibodies that the immune system generates within. The immune system is just not given enough time and chance to fight with the illness causing bacteria and viruses.

As a result, in the long run, it gets conditioned not to be able to generate them efficiently anymore. It ends up in a reduced immunity in the mind body system after every episode of gulping a handful of the modern pharmaceutical medicine.

Every new relapse of the same condition proves to be more serious than the former one turning even the treatment much more complicated.

Health deteriorates further!

Then, apart from normal acute diseases, there are more permanent lifestyle diseases too which unfortunately the modern pharmaceutical medicine doesn’t have even a treatment for. In such cases; like in migraines, diabetes, hypothyroid, hyperthyroid, high blood pressure, heart conditions, acidity, constipation, obesity, liver damage, kidney damage, asthma, anxiety, depression and many more, it only has a few options to merely manage them somehow.

Holistic Healing for Acute Diseases & Lifestyle Diseases

Holistic healing treats both, acute diseases and lifestyle diseases, being caused by faulty lifestyles.

The only permanent way to cure them for once and forever is to change the lifestyle that has been responsible for causing them in the very first place.

Holistic healing has quite a few ways up its sleeves to address the causative factors in an effective manner.

Holistic Healing Vs Stringent Laboratory Testing

Now let’s come to the objection raised by the mainstream pharmaceutical medicine against the ways of holistic healing in that they have not undergone stringent laboratory testing methods to come up with convincing statistical data establishing their efficacy.

As has been stated before, treating symptoms temporarily can be a much swifter process than curing the root cause permanently. Now in order to carry out monitored tests on a sample of ill subjects, holistic healing procedures not only require a much longer duration of time but also much larger sums of money.

Pharmaceutical medicine requires much shorter spans of time to carry out such monitored tests on a sample of patients readily available because it anyway has them because of its popularity along with shorter commitments of time on their behalf.

As far as large sums of money are requires in carrying out such monitored tests on samples of patients, pharmaceutical medicine has no dearth of it which it has earned by selling popular medicine in place of the right one. It’s something like pop music and popular movies selling way more than classical or fast food selling lot more than healthy nutritious diet.

Both these factors, the time and the money, go against holistic healing procedures to be effectively able to carry out such monitored tests on large enough samples of patients for a long enough time to show better statistical results in a scientifically convincing manner.

It’s very much like the rich becoming richer even if corrupt and inefficient and the poor becoming poorer even if virtuous and effective.

Holistic Healing to Become Mainstream Healing

In order for holistic healing to become mainstream healing (except for emergency conditions where fast medicine does have a genuine temporary role to play), we need to bring a paradigm shift in our culture which at present favors fast life, fast movies, fast music, fast sex, fast food and fast medicine over their slower and much healthier counterparts.

If it ever happens so, holistic healing has the true potential to become the ultimate solution of deteriorating human health on the planet.

What is chakra healing?

Chakra Healing

Chakra healing is a holistic healing process that has a real great promise in its store to offer for the sake of the entire human health on the planet.

I know it’s a big claim but chakra healing is no small modality too! It’s a modality that was framed and perfected in the ancient Indian healing procedures. In fact it’s not just a procedure; it’s a total philosophy of life that uses no intellectual theories to propound itself. The very process establishes and explains it all.

Many people confuse it as a part of or as a co-process of yoga which it is not. It’s a totally independent modality to stand by itself on its own alone. In fact it had never been an organic part of yogic system at all. It was originally a procedure used by the tantric system which was violently suppressed by the established yogic system around two thousand years ago. Later the yogic system borrowed it from the then inactive tantric system and modified it to suit their worldview.

Chakra Yoga Feud

In the feud between the two systems, the elaborate details of the chakra healing process somehow got lost in the oblivion. What remained intact were the introductory symbols used to initiate the practitioner on the path of an otherwise elaborate procedure that would do the needful to heal the body and the mind.

In the absence of the elaborate procedural details, the introductory symbols got highlighted and made the main course of chakra healing modality in the hands of the yogic system. It also added a few postures named mudras which the tantric system had never used to facilitate opening chakras to actuate chakra healing. It made chakra healing a real tedious process to practice. But then the two of them had entirely two opposite worldviews as well!

Today the situation is that there are rare people who have any real insight into the system of chakras and the process to open them in a proper scientific way. Majority of the so-called chakra specialists keep beating about the bush with the introductory sticks of symbols in their hands and hope that this alone would enable them to open chakras activating the chakra healing process.

Chakra Symbols

Some of these introductory symbols are named like chakra symbols, chakra colors, chakra sounds, chakra crystals, chakra stones, chakra music, chakra candles, chakra chart, chakra art, chakra mantras, chakra images, chakra tones, chakra gates, chakra pictures and chakra breathing.

The real information got lost somewhere during those early days of suppression behind the multiplicity of so many symbolic representations and then people started interpreting symbols alone as the only information that this miraculous discipline of chakra healing ever had.

And the funny part was that everyone dealing with these symbols would interpret them as per one’s own imaginary whims. Since the discipline had gone esoteric by now, everyone claiming to be the master of one’s own interpretation had one’s day since there was no authentic source left to verify the same.

Kundalini: The Cosmic Energy

The same happened with the connected discipline of kundalini, the cosmic energy that was said to constantly keep flowing through the body with its chakras open which was otherwise blocked as the chakras lay closed. It was presumed that once chakra healing was able to open all the chakras, kundalini would automatically get awakened and starts flowing through the body unobstructed without any blockage in its path.

In the absence of the original authentic process that got lost, people started making mysteriously esoteric procedures claiming them to be opening chakras, awakening kundalini and activating chakra healing. Since people are generally driven by faith and not by scientific verification, they accepted whatever was offered to them and imagined they had successfully undergone the healing procedure.

Healing

Now, healing as perceived by the masses is a very vague term. A little arbitrary improvement in one’s condition is sufficient to confirm one’s faith in the procedure one is undergoing. And when faith is already there, it does act as a placebo to virtually imagine getting that little arbitrary improvement in reality. Such placebos even work in the mainstream medicine as well.

You would ask me how I know what all I am telling about chakra healing here!

Well, I know because I have a firsthand experience of opening my own chakras although I did it accidentally in the beginning and then perfecting the procedure after a long strenuous research in the field in which no authentic literature was available.

This article that I have started writing about chakras is the first of a series of articles that I will be writing here as my further blog posts in the same space on the subject of chakra healing in days to come.

I will be explaining my entire journey into opening chakras and developing the modality as a reliable promise to take care of the human health on the planet.

Mental Health Awareness

Mental health awareness is something people rarely know anything about. They don’t even know that mental health has a very close association with their physical health through the mind body connection.

We think if we don’t have any debilitating mental disease, our mental health is good.

Nothing can be farther from truth than this!

Mental Health

Mental health is not merely the absence of mental illnesses, it’s rather the well-being of mind meaning thereby mind to be at peace with itself.

We all know very well we are not at peace with our own selves. Our mind almost always keeps fighting with its own self.

What makes us do so?

We fall prey to sociocultural demands that our society and our culture impose on us and expect us to fulfill the same as fast as we can.

It makes our mind run and keep running until it has achieved the elusive target these sociocultural demands have put in front of it which it is never able to do.

It keeps running round and round and never reaches anywhere.

Mental health awareness simply means knowing that mind is keeping running an endless futile race.

Physical Heath

When mind is not at peace, how can body keep relaxed?

Following the instruction from the mind, the body also keeps its muscles contracted all the time.

Mind is the engine that runs the car of the body.

If the body keeps its musculature contracted all the time, its physiological processes get negatively affected.

These physiological processes include digestion, breathing, blood circulation, immune system maintenance, hormonal secretions, sexual drive, sensory and motor functions along with keeping the body posture loosely erect to act in a relaxed manner.

As you can very well see, almost all physical ailments are caused by any one or more of these physiological processes gone wrong in the body.

It’s our mind that does this to us.

The only permanent way out is to develop mental health awareness to an extent that it immediately senses that something wrong is going on in the mind which is making it stressed.

The Mind Body Connection

Developing such acute mental health awareness requires developing an equally acute sensory perception in our mind body system.

That’s what is called the mind body connection!

Heal your mind in order to heal your body.

Now the question arises how to heal the mind for it to reach its absolute potential.

Here mental health awareness comes to our rescue. We need to start sensing the infighting going on inside the mind.

The Fragmented Mind

As a result of falling prey to the unjust sociocultural demands, the mind fragments it in more than one compartments trying to pacify each one of them by trying to fulfill each one’s demands.

But the unlucky part of this all is that those fragments are in contradiction with one another. Each one pulls the mind to the direction of its own fulfillment which stops the others from driving mind to take action in the directions of their demands.

They all keep stretching the mind in opposite directions ending up in a state of no action despite a huge effort exercised on mind’s part.

It’s like the engine keeping idling with the race paddle pressed hard but the car not moving in any direction ahead.

The engine gets choked.

The mind gets stressed.

We all know what stress is.

What Is Stress?

What our choked mental health awareness does is that it keeps tiring us all day long (as well as all night long!).

We keep wasting our energy turning our bodies to a state of partial paralysis.

Our immune system along with others in the row doesn’t get renewed sufficiently and easily falls prey to even the weakest onslaught of illness carrying microbes.

The next in line stand the lifestyle diseases affecting digestion, breathing, and blood circulation along with hormonal secretions causing constipation, obesity, asthma, heart conditions, diabetes, hypothyroid/hyperthyroid, kidney and liver problems along with many more like these.

Real mental illnesses including acute anxiety, panic attacks, depression with other neurotic and psychotic conditions are the last to attack the mind body system.

Stress is the most basic root cause of all illness on earth.

Now the main question facing humanity is how to deal with stress to turn it out of mind and life for once and forever.

Morals vs Ethics vis-à-vis Natural Instincts: Morals Are to Keep Until Natural Instincts Rebel. Ethics Still Survive

I remember two different stories that took place with two different females coming intimately close to me in my life. Both of them were extremely moralistic in the most traditional way as they joined my soft skills training sessions.

I was in my late fifties. And one of these trainees was in her late thirties whereas the other one was in her early twenties. Their names were Lata and Meghna respectively. Lata was married and had two kids. She was working as a PGT lecturer in a government school. Meghna was still a student pursuing her degree course in an engineering college. Apart from being traditionally moralistic, they both had another common point they shared. They were quite beautiful to look at.

Lata had an undaunted reputation of being a committed and a faithful wife. She even had thwarted sexual advances from a senior officer from the education department promising huge benefits to her. It became public as she got a departmental complaint registered against him and got him suspended. There was still a departmental inquiry going on against him ruining his entire career.

Meghna as she joined my training gave a clear statement in her introduction speech that she hated falling in love. Her statement was a plain declaration that she would marry someone her parents chose for her. She had used the customary introduction ritual to warn others they shouldn’t try to make any advances toward her.

Lata had a tendency of accumulating fat around her belly. But she always kept it at bay through religiously following a strict dieting regimen and a regular cardio workout. She was extremely concerned about keeping her figure in shape. But her strict dieting regimen was proving to be a bit too much of effort pressing heavily on her psyche. She loved eating tasty snacks to satiate her taste glands, but she couldn’t. On the other hand, she saw me eating up whatever came my way without ever adding inches to my belly. I didn’t even do any cardio workouts.

Morals vs Ethics vis-à-vis Natural Instincts: Lata Asks My Secret of Keeping Fit

She came to me after a session, asking my secret to keep my shape as fit as a teenager’s body. I asked her to breathe in front of me as I closely watched her breath while inhaling and exhaling. I found she was doing it through her chest involving her intercostal muscles.

I had always breathed through my abdomen through using thoracic diaphragm. It was one of the best cures for belly fat in particular and weight loss in general. I asked her to breathe like I was doing. It employed contracting thoracic diaphragm, a muscle located between thoracic and abdominal cavities, for inhaling air inside the lungs.

It comprised slow and deep inhalation through the nose followed by slow and complete exhalation through relaxing thoracic diaphragm back. It required keeping the thoracic diaphragm relaxed in general to keep the thrust of breathing on exhalation rather than inhalation. Keeping it relaxed kept the synergetic abdominal muscles always contracted never allowing fat to get accumulated over there.

She couldn’t follow my verbal instructions to change her breathing pattern to turn her intercostal breathing into diaphragmatic breathing. Ultimately, I had to hold her intercostal muscles with my hands stopping them from moving while she breathed.

She went breathless for a while but then she raised her shoulders and collarbones while contracting the abdomen for inhalation. She had taken refuge in clavicular breathing which was a very tiring process. It simply couldn’t be held for long durations of maximum air intake.

I locked her clavicles (collarbones) as well, through aligning them with her neck. For this I had to employ my hands holding her arms up toward her head from under her armpits. Now my forearms were pressing on her intercostal muscles tight. Hence, she couldn’t use her intercostal as well as her clavicular breathing muscles for intercostal or clavicular breathing.

She went breathless again, but I didn’t release her held up muscles. Her face went red, and her eyes came popping out. I still didn’t release my pressure until she was able to relax her thoracic diaphragm and contract it to inhale.

As she was able to do it once, I released my pressure on her intercostal and clavicular muscles. I asked her to use her thoracic diaphragm on her own again without me holding her wrong breathing muscles. But she again slid back to her habitual intercostal breathing.

I was left with no alternative but to assist her physically again for her to release her thoracic diaphragm. It was an unconscious muscular habit that kept her thoracic diaphragm always contracted not allowing further contraction to inhale. It was something like unconscious domains of mind keeping habits intact while trying to change them consciously. In fact, that’s what makes habits die hard.

Morals vs Ethics vis-à-vis Natural Instincts: My Intervention Helps Lata Change Her Posture

It went on the same way for the next few days until her thoracic diaphragm learned how to relax itself. But learning how to relax it was not sufficient to change the pattern. It also required learning to keep it relaxed so that exhalation employed double duration of inhalation through contracting it briefly.

As my intervention continued for a few days, I smelt something extra getting added to it. Although she had made a considerable improvement in changing her intercostal breathing with diaphragmatic, she still insisted on my intervention. I felt she had started enjoying my intervention at another level which was sexual in nature.

First, she started getting physically seduced and then she started mentally enjoying getting physically seduced. At times she gave me hints to proceed further by letting her torso completely loose through faking fainting. But I didn’t pay heed to those hints.

Finally, when her patience crossed her control, one day she asked me straight if I would have sex with her. I wasn’t ready for it but I found it extremely tough to break her heart by saying a curt no.

“Look Lata, there is a reason I won’t,” I slowly introduced my denial trying to make it less obtrusive.

She kept looking at me intently.

I continued, “I am not a moralist, and I don’t think adultery is a sin. But I have made a promise to my wife I wouldn’t have sex outside marriage. It’s only for her satisfaction simply because I entered a contract with her when I married her. Everyone does that when one marries because marriage is nothing else but a contract though people often break those contracts. I would rather break my marriage before I ever think of breaking my contract.”

She kept looking at me with a great sense of satisfaction on her face. Then she blurted out, “You have been my best teacher ever. I love you beyond limits!”

“I love you deeply too, Lata!” I spoke as I wondered how morals were to keep only until natural instincts rebelled. Ethics still survived.

Morals vs Ethics vis-à-vis Natural Instincts: Meghna Mimics My Accent Very Well

With Meghna, the story unfolded in a totally different way on the very first day she started her training. I was familiarizing people on voice modulation for the perusal of neutral accent while speaking English, a highly accented language. But they were finding it difficult to mimic the accent I was trying to make them reproduce.

When everyone else failed, Meghna exactly reproduced it without seemingly making any extra effort on her part. I was greatly amazed at her performance that she had come up with, in such a casual manner. I asked her to reproduce a few more samples as I spoke up those. She came up with the same miraculous performance every time I tested her.

I saluted her for doing it so easily in such an impeccable manner. But she was looking at something deeper involved into the entire process of this reproduction.

She curiously said, “I don’t know how I am doing it but when I do I feel highly energetic inside.”

“Exactly! It’s also a process of summoning up energy in your body. And you can summon it up even without reproducing voice modulation for the perusal of neutral accent,” I revealed.

“How?” Meghna went more curious, “Energy is the most important thing for me in life. How to summon it up?”

“You may not only summon it up, but you can also store it inside and keep it there for good,” I further revealed.

“What’s the modus operandi? I badly need to learn it for myself,” she blurted.

“You can only get on to it slowly and gradually. It’s not a one-day job,” I replied.

“I can’t wait,” she murmured.

“You have to,” I smiled as I said this.

As the session ended, she waited for everyone else to leave. Then she spoke,” I love you!”

Morals vs Ethics vis-à-vis Natural Instincts: Meghna Proposes

I didn’t take it as a real proposal. I just took it as a philosophical expression of her awe that she had gone through during the session. Hence, I replied, “I love you too.”

“Really? I have fallen for you. I no more hate falling in love,” she exclaimed.

I still didn’t take it as a real proposal. It was since I couldn’t imagine a girl in her early twenties proposing to a man in his late fifties.

The training kept going on with the passage of time. I had always set my chairs in a circle, and I too sat on one of them during my sessions.

One day as she sat next to me in the circle, she whispered something in my ear. I couldn’t get it in the first go as to what she had whispered. I looked into her eyes with a question in mine asking her what she had said. She whispered again, “Do you love me as much as you love your wife?”

I was taken aback by what she had said. Still, I decided to take it as a philosophical expression of her awe for what she went through during training. Hence, I replied philosophically, “Yes, exactly!”

“I have even declared my love for you in front of my parents,” she whispered back.

I got alarmed. What was she up to? I whispered, “What did they say?”

She smiled as she whispered back, “My father said he needed to join your sessions too. He wants to know what is so magnetic in your personality that changed his obedient daughter overnight.”

I decided to ignore what all she had said. I actually took it to be an immature infatuation of hers toward me. I tried to make myself believe it was a temporary phase of hers and would automatically get diluted with time.

But then what happened after a few more days shook me off up to my core. I was sitting in my office working on my computer during my free hours there as Meghna barged in. I offered her a seat beside mine on my computer table. As she sat down, she didn’t take time to come to the point she had come for.

“I want to kiss you,” said she.

I kept looking at her for a long while. Then I asked, “Why? I am 58 and you are 22. What makes you feel like kissing me?”

“Energy! That you are full of, but my peers are not! That’s what has made me fall for you,” she said in a matter-of-fact voice.

“Would you like to fall for me, or would you like to fall for energy?” I posed a real difficult question to her.

“To me both are the same,” she responded.

“Would you like to pursue sex, or would you like to pursue energy?” I reframed my question.

“I want both now,” she sounded determined.

“Okay, let me propose playing a game of sex and energy together to you. Are you ready?” I asked for her approval before proposing it to her.

“What’s that?” She questioned.

Morals vs Ethics vis-à-vis Natural Instincts: I Offer A Totally Different Proposal

“Don’t kiss me. Don’t even touch me. I too won’t. But since we are extremely attracted toward each other, let’s use this as an opportunity to kindle this attraction further. Are you ready?” I gave her a hint.

“How exactly?” she wanted to know the exact details.

“Let’s bare our bodies and try to excite the other with our gestures without touching each other. The attraction will go on increasing exponentially. That will summon up incredible energy within our bodies. And since we won’t even touch each other, it won’t even tend to leak outside. We will make it a point not to throw it out once we have summoned it in,” I explained.

“Where will it ultimately lead us to?” she went curious.

“Let that be a suspense,” I proposed.

“Sounds interesting! I am ready,” she went enthusiastic about it.

“We will have to make some preparations before we embark on to doing it in real life,” I said.

“I can see it will totally change me as a person. How did you design it so creatively?” she went all praise for me.

“I have played it before and that was what changed me as a person. But there are no limits to change. Let’s start a new journey together. And I can guarantee you playing this game is way more enjoyable than repeating the old mechanical rut of sex. It doesn’t throw out, it keeps energy while playing the game of sex,” my voice went enthusiastic.

“I am looking forward to it,” she took my leave as she said these words.

I kept wondering again how fast morals got washed off the moment natural instincts turned rebellious! Ethics still survived.

I took my family to my favorite place in Manali to Marhi on the way to Rohtang pass. My daughter had turned 6 by then. There were huge glaciers in Marhi ideal for practicing skiing. Even otherwise the way from Marhi to Rohtang pass hadn’t been officially declared open for vehicular traffic that year yet.

So, I thought I would teach skiing to my daughter for the first part of the day. My plan was to climb Rohtang pass on foot after lunch and come back before evening tea.

As we were enjoying our skiing, we thought of having a tea break in between. Sipping hot tea in that cold weather was a joy in itself. Some hot snacks together felt like adding cherries to the cake. We got friendly with two honeymoon couples sipping tea on the next table. They very eagerly wanted to visit Rohtang pass but got disappointed as they came to discover it wasn’t opened yet. I told them we would be climbing it up on foot after lunch and they could join us along.

In the meantime, they got another offer from a van driver who had just arrived there. He somehow had managed a special permit to drive up to the pass and offered them his services. They immediately hired him despite his charges being a lot more than normal taking benefit of his special permit.

Before leaving, they came back to us and said we could also get accommodated in the van if we wished. But I refused saying I still wanted to do some more skiing before lunch. I also added I felt like climbing it on foot. I told them it would remind me my old memories of having climbed it many times in the past.

Anyway, they left in the van heading toward the top of the pass. We went back to the glacier to continue with our skiing. After another hour and a half session, we packed our skis and moved up to the same restaurant for lunch.

By the time we finished our lunch, I spotted the same van at a height coming back down. But as I spotted it, I immediately saw it tumbling down the high ditch. It was rolling down like a ball bouncing high each time it hit the side of the ditch. Within moments it reached hundreds of feet below turning into a squeezed lump of steel.

Everyone rushed toward the van as it came to a standstill. After the immediate rescue was provided, five people got evacuated out of its remains. The two husbands were found dead, the driver seriously injured, and the two wives hadn’t even got a single scratch. It was because the two husbands were sitting by the door sides with the wives sandwiched between them. Hence their bodies acted like cushions to their wives while they themselves got the entire grunt of the shock.

The wives sat in a state of shock as the bodies of their husbands were laid in front of them. The driver was semiconscious opening eyes intermittently and then closing them back.

They were immediately rushed to the government hospital down in Manali. We too canceled our program to climb up the pass on foot and returned to our hotel. It had been a close shave with death for us too as we might have accepted their invitation and died.

Three years after this accident, we visited another ski resort Auli a few thousand miles away in the Himalayas. We stayed in the beautiful tourism accommodation that was the only place to stay in that newly come up resort. In the morning we sat out in the sun waiting for our breakfast to be served in the open. There was another family sitting on an adjacent table having their breakfast. We started chatting aloud from a distance.

“This new ski resort has a potential to become one of the best in the country,” I expressed my opinion.

“Certainly yes, next only to Gulmarg!” The family seemed interested in skiing as one of them replied to my comment.

“I like Rohtang and its vicinity as well. It has some very challenging slopes over there,” I added another input.

It was another thing that the majority shrugged them off ‘nipping the evil in the bud’. But the fact was that attractions did instinctively arise before they were morally shrugged off.

In 1978, two people from our theater group in the valley applied for admission to National School of Drama. One was Shivani who had turned my ex after a fierce fight between the two of us by then. And the second one was I.

The two of us weren’t even at talking terms with each other. It simply showed we both had badly hurt each one’s expectations from the other. But the expectations were still alive though in a badly hurt state. We were still bothered about them. We weren’t free from the concern for the other and that was why we had stopped talking to each other.

Anyway, we both harbored a lot of bitterness within as we went for facing the interview for selection. Our behaviors vis-a-vis each other very conspicuously revealed telltale signs of something extremely wrong going on between us. Otherwise, why wouldn’t two candidates from the same town seen at least casually talking throughout interview processing even once? People guessed it all.

As I appeared for the interview, I was asked to present a voice modulation sample of my choice. In fact, this presentation was the main criterion of selection. I enacted a deeply emotional and a highly challenging poetic monologue of at least three minutes of duration. My voice naturally had a very deep base notes and my abdominal breathing added a reverberation to its modulation. As I started rendering the presentation, all interviewers suddenly turned alert in their sitting stance abandoning their seat rests. I felt I had gone into a trance-like state while presenting my piece. A deep silence pervaded the interview hall.

And when I finished my performance, the silence still kept continuing for a long while. There was no doubt it had been an extraordinary performance without needing any comment from anyone around.

Finally, the director asked me, “You are so highly qualified and also worked as a scientist in defense ministry. What makes you join a professional course in theater now?” he was looking at my admission form as he spoke.

“Passion! I have decided to follow the call of my heart now onwards which I never did before,” said I.

“What’s your specific field of interest in drama?” he shot his next question.

“Writing and direction! But I recently discovered I have some acting talent as well,” I stated in a matter-of-fact voice.

“That is obvious. We just witnessed it,” he murmured before he officially declared, “thank you gentleman, the interview is over. You will soon hear from us.”

“Thanks a lot, sir!” I said as I made my way out.

The interview results were out the next day. And when I checked it, my name wasn’t there in the list of selected candidates. It was unbelievable. Everyone was expecting I would top the list. But strangely, I hadn’t been selected at all. Shivani was ranked fifth among selected candidates.

Somesh was also present there and he was equally shocked too. He immediately managed for my stay in the vicinity and lined up my recently written play for performance. A staff member from the drama school took up the direction. The director of the school took up composing music for the play himself. That started my professional theatrical journey in the National School of Drama right then and there despite my admission rejected.

It was an ambitious project and the best theatrical talents joined hands to make it a memorable performance. As the school director completed his musical compositions, he invited the play director and me to his place. Unlike a corporate meeting, it was a work cum pleasure get together as is customary with artists everywhere.

We sat on pegs of whisky going through all the musical compositions that the school director had composed by then. Whisky and music made a very good combination to enjoy joining the elements of the play together.

At one point while setting the lyrics with the musical notes, the school director turned very emotional. Partly it was whisky showing its effect as well.

“This composition has come out to be great. Lyrics are equally great too. I must congratulate you for having created a great piece of art as a play,” he mumbled.

“That was why you had rejected me in the interview!” I turned a bit satirical.

He immediately stood up straight saying, “I remember it all. In fact, you had topped the list of successful candidates.”

“Then? What happened?” asked the director of my play.

“You know this head of the acting department! No one knows him better than I do. He had set his evil eyes on Shivani. And he guessed this man would be the biggest hurdle in his evil flirtatious designs. So, he vetoed him out making an excuse that he had an exceptionally pronounced vein on his forehead. He argued it was a sign of an impulsive emotional state which could turn difficult for the school to handle. That son of a bitch!” his face turned bitter as he blurted out the truth.

“But wasn’t it unjustified? How did you agree to it?” exclaimed the play director.

He slowly sat down and looked at both of us as he said, “Do you think justice really exists?”

We just kept looking at his face.

He continued, “What we call justice is just our concept of it. You see we have formed Society for Prevention of Cruelty toward Animals. Which animals are these? Certainly not the ones that we gulp down into our stomachs every day! Can you show me a single example of real justice throughout the world through its entire history? Every country has its different code of justice the way it deems fit. Can you even say that the food chain of nature is a justified design? The bigger fish eating the smaller one! Justice is nowhere there,” he kept blurting his emotions out.

He stopped for a while and then said a single sentence before refilling our glasses, “Sorry! We had our warped justice which said that we couldn’t veto someone else’s veto. I couldn’t veto the veto of that cunning head of the acting department. I am really sorry!”

Suddenly we heard a loud cry of a child as if he was hit by someone. We found it was the tea vendor’s employee who was being bullied by the night police patrol. They had hit him with their baton on some issue we knew not. We didn’t want to get involved in the affairs of the police, so we kept being silent observers. But one of the other two sitting on the nearby table raised his voice loud, “Hello officer!”

The officer casually peeped inside from where the voice had addressed them. Then he tended to ignore it and kept hitting the child.

“I am addressing you, officer. Respond to me,” he again raised his voice toward them.

“Who wants a response here inside?” the officer peeped inside the shop again but couldn’t ignore the call this time.

“I am the one,” he raised his hand.

“What’s your problem?” shouted the officer.

“It’s not my problem. I am asking about yours. I want to know why you are hitting this little child so mercilessly,” said the man.

“Do you really want an answer?” The officer challenged him armed with the power the state had vested in him.

“Yes, I do want an answer,” replied the man fearlessly undeterred by the officer’s challenge.

“Okay, come out in the open if you want an answer,” the officer dared him out.

The man immediately stood up and went out where they were hitting the child. His companion followed him out as well.

“Tell me now. I am out in the open for an answer,” he dared the officer back.

By now their focus had got shifted from the child to the man challenging their authority.

The officer kept staring at the man for a while. When the man didn’t let his gaze down, the officer again asked, “So you want an answer, right?”

“Right,” said the man.

“Okay, come to the police station with us. You will get your answer in detail over there,” the officer tried his next scaring tactic.

“Well, I have no problem in going to your police station if you are more comfortable answering my question there. I just want my answer wherever you give,” the man said in a very cool voice.

They all started moving toward the police station. By that time, we had also finished our tea. Without a single word uttered among us, we automatically started following them as if pulled by a magnet behind them. The road had gone absolutely empty by then at that hour.

“The best of all the gutsy soon start panting inside a police station. Some of them even wet their pants,” the officer painted a macabre image of the police station to scare him.

“I don’t mind that. You said you would answer my question in the police station, so I am going there with you. It doesn’t matter to me what all happens there,” his tone was still the same way cool.

It was time for the officer to get alarmed now. Who was this man not losing his cool despite the impending threat of what could happen with him there? He himself started getting scared a bit now.

“Who are you by the way? What connections have you got?” the officer wanted to clarify.

“Why are you getting scared? I am an ordinary man. I really don’t have any connections too. So, you can try any of your methods you are trying to scare me with. In the end, I simply want an answer to my question,” the man said in a matter-of-fact voice.

“We also have some experience of who sounds like what. The ones who don’t have any approach shout out the loudest of their imaginary connections trying to scare us. And the ones who really have them never disclose before they set off using them in real action. I can bet you have very high connections,” the officer was in a mood to hush up the matter now.

“That’s for you to decide. I simply told you the truth I don’t have any. I am on my own alone standing in front of you in my personal capacity. You can do whatever you feel like doing. But I just want the answer to my question,” the man still insisted on what he really wanted from them.

It was a war of nerves that the police had already appeared to have lost in a pitiable manner. The officer didn’t want to take any further risk.

“Let’s compromise,” the officer suggested as they stopped moving ahead. We also stopped where we were, trying to listen to every single word they were exchanging.

“Sorry, I don’t want any compromise, officer! I just want you to answer my question,” the man still stuck to his ground.

By then, the officer had really got frightened. He offered an unconditional apology,” We are sorry we hit the child.”

“But why did you?” the man still didn’t accept their apology.

“We found him an easy target to take out our grudges we had to suppress within,” he was looking ashamed.

“Now I got my answer. I just wanted to show you the mirror. Do you see how ugly you look in the mirror?” his tone was again the same way cool.

“Sorry sir, we will never repeat it again,” the officer looked like an erring child caught.

“And if you are so frustrated in your job, why don’t you resign and do something better? There are hundred and one better ways to earn a living,” the man still sounded equally cool.

The officer kept looking down in shame as did his entire team along.

We all dispersed as the police left from there, but I got my best teacher in the man forever. And that too when I didn’t even know his name. What he taught me alone was way more meaningful than everything together all my teachers had ever taught me in classrooms.

A Revealing Life Lessons Story: Everyone Is the Same Way Naked Under One’s Clothes

I was 27 when I shifted from my hilly hometown to the valley below to join a theater group there. I was an aspiring writer and soon I got a mentor named Rohit Roy who was an established writer himself. Luckily, he was also a member of the same theater group and appreciated my writing style a lot. He was all out to help me whenever he could, wherever he could. I was welcome to his place all 24 hours of the day. At times I slept there at night as well. His wife took me as a family member too.

I revered Rohit to the point of having an unquestionable faith in him. Therefore, I said nothing when he directed a play written by me and changed its subtle end with a gimmick. It was despite my feeling that doing so had robbed it of its real soul. But I kept mum.

Anyway, I started writing a new play. At the same time, it coincidentally happened so that Rohit started writing a new play too. Two new plays were going to come into existence and hence everyone in the group was excited to welcome them. We both took around a couple of months to complete our scripts.

Incidentally the script completion coincided with Somesh Garg’s visit to the group, a theater activist from National School of Drama. Being an extra-intelligent person, he enchanted the group with his presence. As the new plays had already been completed, Somesh suggested a play reading session for both of them together. Rohit offered to host the session at his place with tea and snacks to make it more enjoyable.

At the specified time, the session started. Somesh was ready to take notes in his notebook while the session was in progress. The first part started with the reading of Rohit’s play giving him the due respect of being a senior writer.

After the reading was over, it was time to review the play by everyone present in the session. A detailed discussion went on concerning different aspects of the play. Somesh’s notes had been the most elaborate ones as he was professionally trained in theater genre. Hence his participation in the discussion was also the most vocal. His opinions seemed to affect others’ minds as well.

In the end, everyone was supposed to give a star rating to the play in a step of half-a-point out of 5.

Rohit’s play received a whopping 4 out of 5 stars by the members of the group and Somesh.

After a refreshment break, the next was the turn of my play to be read. The same procedure was repeated again. Tea kept being served continuously by Rohit’s wife through the session.

After the reading was done, a lengthy discussion followed. In the end, the star rating was given.

I was hardly expecting 3 or 3.5 out of 5 at the most. But to my utter astonishment, my play received an exceptional 4.5 out of 5!

I wasn’t emotionally ready to ingest that much of appreciation and that too in comparison with my mentor’s play. Although it wasn’t a comparative review but it turned so as the two reviews were placed back-to-back. My eyes automatically fell on Rohit’s face and I could clearly see it turning pale. But he kept his composure and congratulated me. I wished the two plays shouldn’t have been read back to back together. But the arrow had already been shot. What had happened, had happened.

It had already turned quite late at night. Everyone took leave of one another and left. Since I lived alone, Rohit’s wife suggested me to stay back as I wouldn’t get food anywhere at that hour. She said I could stay there overnight. I agreed.

It wasn’t that Rohit’s play was criticized or got any bad reviews, but everything got centered on the star rating. Even his star rating was exceptional, but its sheen had gone paled when kept along my star rating.

We had a relationship of a mentor and a mentee with the mentee revering the mentor. It needed a gap of levels and a distance between the two as far as the creative skill levels were concerned. But all the gaps had been bridged and all the distances had been vanished in that day’s play reading session.

Rohit didn’t speak much while eating and soon after the dinner, we all went to sleep.

At night, at around 3 o’clock, I heard someone waking me up from my deep sleep. As I opened my eyes, I saw Rohit standing by my bed.

“What happened? Is everything okay?” I got worried.

“I just discovered why your play got 4.5 out of 5-star rating. It’s because you have used a gimmick in your play at the end that everyone fell into the trap of. But gimmicks never make a great piece of art. I think you should change the end and get another reading done for your play,” mumbled Rohit.

Although I didn’t agree with what Rohit said but I apparently acted as if I fully agreed with him. I didn’t want him to keep feeling bad about his star rating not being as good as mine anymore.

I didn’t even tell him about what he had done to the end of my old play while directing it recently. I hadn’t liked the end because he had replaced its subtle ending with a noisy gimmick himself that time.

I also didn’t want him to realize the awkwardness of telling this to me by waking me up at 3am!

I just kept mum and acted as if I fully agreed with him.

When my acceptance convinced him about the validity of his assertion, he felt relieved and went back to sleep peacefully.

But I learned a precious lesson from this entire episode. I learned that reverence was not a right thing to have for anyone anywhere on earth. I learned everyone was the same way naked under one’s clothes.
